The event

Built on precision

Mission Control is not a typical hackathon. Every team receives the same fictional company — OrbitalOps Systems — with the same messy data and the same constraints. Design the right HubSpot data model, migrate the data, preserve associations, handle edge cases, and leave the portal ready for real business operations.

  • 01

    Same scenario for every team

Everyone works from the same fictional company, the same data exports, the same constraints. No ambiguity, no subjectivity.

  • 02

    Build it inside HubSpot

Design the schema, create custom objects, map associations, and execute the migration. The portal is the deliverable.

  • 03

    Scored on measurable criteria

Migration accuracy, data quality, schema design, idempotency — not a pitch deck. Your portal speaks for itself.

  • 04

    For real HubSpot professionals

This is not a beginner workshop. It is a serious technical challenge for people who already work with HubSpot at depth.

Why this is different

Most hackathons reward presentation. This one rewards execution.

  • 01

    One scenario for everyone

    Fair comparison

Every team gets the same company, the same data, the same mess. No gaming the format. The best implementation wins.

  • 02

    Measurable scoring

    No demo theatre

Winning is not decided by a panel watching demos. It is determined by objective evaluation of your HubSpot portal against defined rubrics.

  • 03

    Realistic business context

    Real complexity

OrbitalOps Systems is not a toy problem. It has the data complexity, edge cases, and operational requirements of a real B2B company.

Mission briefing

OrbitalOps Systems

A fictional aerospace and industrial B2B company with real-world data complexity. OrbitalOps sells spacecraft and related systems, manages missions and customer programs, handles spare parts and inventory, and runs support, warranty, and service operations. Their data lives across legacy platforms, spreadsheets, and disconnected APIs. Your challenge: bring it all into HubSpot and make it work.

  • 01

    Spacecraft & vehicles

Fleet records, vehicle specifications, mission assignments, operational status tracking across an active catalog.

  • 02

    Spare parts & inventory

Part catalogs with compatibility matrices, supplier relationships, stock levels, and order history.

  • 03

    Missions & operations

Launch schedules, crew assignments, mission phases, customer program management, and cross-entity dependencies.

  • 04

    Support & service

Ticket routing, SLA management, warranty tracking, escalation paths, and service event history.

The challenge

What teams will solve

Every aspect of a real CRM migration — from understanding the business model to leaving HubSpot ready for daily operations.

  • 01

    Data modeling & custom objects

Decide what belongs in standard HubSpot objects and what requires custom objects. Design the right schema.

  • 02

    Association architecture

Map every relationship — contacts to companies, deals to spacecraft, missions to spare parts. Associations are what make HubSpot usable.

  • 03

    Migration pipeline

Build a repeatable import process from CSV exports, API responses, and legacy data formats. Clean, transform, load — at scale.

  • 04

    Data cleanup & deduplication

Normalize inconsistent records, handle duplicates, fix formatting issues, and validate data integrity across objects.

  • 05

    Edge cases & exceptions

Orphaned records, circular references, missing required fields, conflicting data sources. Real data is messy. Handle it.

  • 06

    Operational readiness

The portal must be usable — workflows, views, reports, dashboards. A clean migration means nothing if the team cannot operate in it.

Scoring

How winning works

No subjective demos. No popularity votes. Your HubSpot portal is evaluated against defined criteria across six dimensions.

  • 20%

    Migration Accuracy

Data completeness, field mapping correctness, record counts, and referential integrity across objects.

  • 20%

    Schema Design

Custom object architecture, property definitions, naming conventions, and logical data organization.

  • 15%

    Association Accuracy

Relationship mapping between objects — correct types, directions, labels, and no orphaned references.

  • 15%

    Data Quality

Deduplication, normalization, consistent formatting, validated fields, and clean records.

  • 15%

    Re-run Safety

Idempotent imports, delta sync handling, no duplicate creation on retry. A migration you can trust to run again.

  • 15%

    Operational Readiness

Workflows, views, dashboards, and reports that make the HubSpot portal ready for daily operations.

Final scoring weights and detailed rubrics will be published before the event.
